It is nothing if someone just know how use social media tools, how to drive public votes. But the social media strategist should have well planned strategy on the table, i.e. who are the people you are going to talk, what are you talking, what are the resources you have etc. if you are strong prepared with such strategy you can climb on ladder of success. I got exactly this idea here and I am most delighted that I didn't waste my time here.

Super Article Amy ! :)

Love the outline Amy. John, thanks for giving her the stage here.

Something that I don't see done well much is this step: "Identify what success will look like". That seems to be a tough one for a lot of organizations. A lot of nonprofits seem to know they need to get into using social media so they "just start". I don't totally disagree with this as a pre-first-step, but it's got to move beyond that at some point.

Any practicals or examples on "what success looks like" that you can share?

Check this out for some real nonprofit sharing. We've been trying to give them the stage a bit: http://bit.ly/t6xuQ

http://twitter.com/franswaa

Nice post! In terms of capacity, it is mostly about time - the nonprofit's most valuable resource. I have a little time grid for different strategies
http://beth.typepad.com/beths_blog/2008/10/how-... - the post old, but I think it is still relevant.
