How To Get More Email Subscribers With Embeded Retweets

ostrich How To Get More Email Subscribers With Embeded Retweets

You’re using Twitter to connect with your community – and you’ve got that down. More and more people are retweeting your posts and recommending you to their followers.

You’re also using email marketing to build the community on your blog. And you’ve got that down too. You’ve even embeded your Twitter ID in your emails, so almost every Twitter user on your email list is following you.

But wouldn’t it be great if it was easier for folks on Twitter to promote and retweet your email list to their followers? What if, with one mouse click,  they could promote your email list on Twitter?

How To Get More Email Subscribers With Embeded Retweets

In this short video, I’ll cover a 4-step process:

  1. Ask your email subscribers to tweet about your email list.
  2. Create a custom URL for the landing page where Twitter folks can subscribe.
  3. Create an embeded retweet using ClickToTweet.Com
  4. Embed the retweet into the request mentioned above in step 1.

How else could you use embeded retweets?

Another short but valuable article. This is a must share and bookmark post. I love when I learn something in a couple of minutes instead of a 30 minute session.

    Cheers,

Glad it worked for you. During the course of running my own business, I often think “This might be helpful for other people to know.” Turning on my screen cast software *while* I'm working allows me to kills two birds with one stone.

I haven't yet mastered the email list but it seems like a good way to also promote RSS/blog subscriptions.

It's a “set it and forget it” way to promote your subscription.

Thanks for the video – short, powerful and user friendly – I can learn a lot from them!
Do you think this could work in email and forum signatures? Something like

“I've got a powerful free gift for you – click HERE to get hold of a copy for yourself AND THEN click HERE to retweet and tell your friends about it. Its all good karma baby :)

Or something along those lines….! Not sure if anyone would be willing but I guess it won't hurt to ask!

    John,

A great idea and i would love to use it, however the lesson was a little fast and not enough detail for me.

    Regards

Ooops! Sorry, Paul. I do get a bit caffeinated in my videos. Try watching again, pause after each step and DIY, and then tell me what you missed. OK?

      Welcome aboard!

    Brilliant, John! I love it!

Here's what I'd like to do: I send out my blog posts via Aweber. At the bottom of the email, I'd like to add something like “Enjoyed this post? Tweet it!” Then the tweet would read something like “Reading [post title] by @GlendaWH at [post link]“.

However, the snag, as I see it, is how do I create the ClicktoTweet link to embed without having the specific post title and url? Follow what I mean? Perhaps a more generic tweet?

    • http://www.johnhaydon.com John Haydon

That is the snag… The clicktotweet link only forwards to a specific URL. That's why I use it only to have people retweet about an email list. In terms of retweeting posts, that all has to do with the content – but you already know what…

Thanks John. Since that idea won't work, I could use the strategy for when people sign up for the free ebook on blog accessibility. Send out a follow-up email asking if they have any questions about the content asking them to tweet about the ebook if they found it informative. Yes?

      • http://www.johnhaydon.com John Haydon

Perfect idea! The key is that the tweet can only be about a single – subscription sign-up, ebook download, squeeze page.
