One of the biggest challenges nonprofits have is fitting content creation within a workload that’s already handicapped with limited staff and resources.
At the Nonprofit Technology Conference last week, Kivi Leroux Miller, president of EcoScribe Communications and Nonprofit Marketing Guide.com, gave a presentation called A Content Creation Strategy For Busy Nonprofits.
Using a baking analogy, Kivi shared a three-step strategy to create remarkable content within limited time constraints:
- Bake The Cake – Write 1,500 words on a specific topic.
- Slice It Up – Cut this 1,500-word piece into smaller sub-topics to be used for emails, blog posts, tweets and status updates.
- Remix – After getting feedback from your community, continue the dialogue with smaller chunks of content (cupcakes). Again, these would be in the form of emails, blog posts, tweets and status updates.
