Hi, What a great site, and you make some interesting points and great ideas…

I love SM (thats social media not the other s&m hmmm!)

I recently started learning how to be a social media manager with Ryan Deiss and Kate Buck … They say you can make $2500 …
Per week tbh I'd be happy with a quarter of that and I actually got my 1st client within 3 days of starting – I posted a few reviews, video and free pdf worth $197 on my blog plus some other sm related videos feel free to take a look – http://letsget-social.blogspot.com/

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Greg. Let me know what the 2nd edition should include.

    What a friendly marketing tactic.

I am new to your blog and have now read a couple of your post. I feel like you are a real and genuine person which has appealed to my senses enough where I might actually share my goodwill with you by adding you to my Facebook “likes” page for all my friends that cherish my opinion to see.

Why? In return I get to feel like I have a connection to “John Haydon” the brand who has been sharing his knowledge with the world so openly and appears to be doing things right (thanks for copylefting your ebook) and I get a copy of his ebook for free by “liking” his Facebook Page.

This all seems reasonable and good… but what if I do not want to support brands or strangers on Facebook? Is there no other way that I can show JohnHaydon.com that I value his site and insights enough to deserve an ebook without shattering my idealized Facebook presence of including only people and organizations I know personally?

Michelle. First of all, thanks for the compliments! They made my day.
Second, I'm confused by your last question. How will liking my Facebook
Page shatter your idealized Facebook presence?

      • http://marvelinthesky.com Michelle

        The complements are well deserved!

And to clarify, I suppose I see it as mixing business with pleasure (family and friends). Ideally I would like to keep my Facebook page purely about me and genuine interactions with friends (this might be an unrealistic imaginary line to some considering it is a commercialized and heavily marketed-to social network, nevertheless)… I don't want to use it for business social… I have LinkedIn++ for that.

Thanks for the reply, and please keep the insights coming! They are extremely valuable.

You and I are similar. I use my Profile mostly for personal connections, and my Page for business.
