If you haven’t heard already, Facebook has launched a location-based “check in” app similar to FourSquare.

It’s called “Places” and as you’ll see in the video below, Facebook seeks to encourage serendipitous meetings between Facebook friends at the places they hang out.

    Facebook pages created a page for one of my locations. If I “claim” it I get a message saying it will create the place into Fan Page. I already have a fan page. How do I combine them?

      When you claim it, it will allow you to choose your Page.

    Places is such an obvious tie in for my nonprofit (California Farmers' Markets Association) that Facebook featured a farmers' market in the above video. Now as to how to create incentive for checking in, I need to brainstorm for high interest low cost solutions. Any ideas?

      David – Create an amazing event that people will want to attend. Give away stuff for people that show up and tag friends on places.

    Facebook fan page will be very beneficial to make the necessary changes as there are many other was of working to make your product knowned as brand..these are many other area of ways were you are going to bet the best out of it.
